Beer - Pipeline
The small Roman town of Bruges is leading the way. To protect the old town, which has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site, a historic brewery located in the city centre is connected to the bottling plant outside by a three-kilometre-long underground pipeline. Now there are no more tanker trucks rumbling over the ancient cobblestones; instead, pure beer flows through the pipe every day. This apparently inspired the makers of the Wacken Open Air in northern Germany, where a beer pipeline was laid on the festival grounds for the first time in 2017.
